Calculating the Cost of Child Care in Alberta

Safe, reliable, and affordable early learning and child care is paramount to our recovery, but understanding affordability is complex. That's why the Business Council of Alberta, in collaboration with Rob Buschmann of the ECELC and Gordon Cleveland of the University of Toronto, built an interactive model to better understand just how affordable (or unaffordable) child care is in Alberta.

This interactive model is part of a larger collaborative body of work examining affordability in early learning and child care, including a detailed blog post and a podcast on the Business Council of Alberta's website as well as ECELC briefs on the recent changes to Alberta's subsidies and child care fee trends in Edmonton and Calgary.
